AQUONIA REPUBLIC is an Open Water Studio that explores and implements new relationships between water and people.
Using IoT water management and design, we create sustainable and beautiful water systems
beyond existing frameworks, together with you.
"AQUONIA (Aqua + Nia)" and "REPUBLIC".
The name embodies our wish to be an "Open Water Republic" where diverse people participate proactively to create future water culture together, rather than it being owned by someone specific.
We want to change water from "something delivered" to "something we create and choose ourselves," and expand the stakeholders of water.
For that purpose, we launched Open Water Studio "AQUONIA REPUBLIC".
By fusing IoT water management technology and design, and through co-creation with industries, regions, researchers, and companies, we promote the social implementation of decentralized water infrastructure. Turning water, which has been a constraint, into new possibilities.
IoT Water Management System for Cost Reduction & Safety
A modular system that acquires and visualizes data such as water quality, volume, and pressure in real-time just by connecting without tools. Predictive control and automatic optimization realize a water environment that balances "safety, energy saving, and cost saving".
Water Related Components Marketplace for Procurement Optimization
Delivering excellent water technologies and products from around the world to the Japanese market, and high-quality Japanese water technologies to the world. We curate products such as pumps, filters, sensors, and control equipment that are truly usable on-site, optimizing the entire water supply chain.
Water-specialized Design & OEM for Long-term Use
Multifaceted support in various layers such as water treatment equipment, IoT devices, and service models. From concept design to OEM manufacturing, contract development, and commercialization, we support the shaping of water technology that is not just "made and done" but established as a business.
Co-creation Ecosystem Creating New Business
Building partnerships beyond industry boundaries with local governments, companies, researchers, and creators. We organically match technology with issues, and sites with ideas, serving as a hub to create innovation through collective intelligence for complex water issues that cannot be solved alone.
Those who want to enjoy water as a hobby or part of their lifestyle, and those who want to improve their living water environment themselves.
Businesses wanting to reduce costs and environmental load by optimizing water use, and companies wanting to co-create new water-related businesses.
Municipalities wanting to redesign water infrastructure into a sustainable form, and local communities wanting to collaborate on the theme of water.
We accompany the creation of water systems through four types of support: "Planning, Making, Maintaining, and Connecting".
With our proprietary water control technology "Aquo-ware System" at the core,
we create, operate, and nurture water mechanisms together with the field, from product development to plant DX.
Reproducing water quality from around the world to optimize beverage taste. Stable reproduction of targeted flavors through water quality control and recipe management.
STEM education kit combining water quality sensors and cloud. Visualizing water conditions to support children's learning.
For disasters and areas without infrastructure. Small, lightweight, off-grid water purification system.
IoT management system that can be retrofitted to existing facilities. Realizing energy and labor savings through constant monitoring and AI analysis.
IoT monitoring system for decentralized septic tanks. Realizing maintenance efficiency by grasping water quality and operating status in real-time.
Promoting expansion to diverse fields such as downsizing water infrastructure and reusing industrial wastewater.
Philosophy
Water is media.
People can change the world themselves.
Purpose
Expanding the stakeholders of water.
Turning water from a constraint into a possibility.
Value Proposition
Autonomous Legacy
Autonomous system that eliminates personalization and lowers maintenance costs.
Realizing "continuity as a structure" that continues across generations without depending on specific individuals or organizations.
Born in Kanazawa, Ishikawa. Researched technology and economics related to water infrastructure. Founded WOTA Corp. in 2014 while in doctoral program at University of Tokyo. Promoted social implementation of decentralized water reuse technology and developed the world's first small-scale water recycling system "WOTA BOX", receiving numerous awards.
Established Eau&Company Inc. Promoting standardization of decentralized water infrastructure centered on water control technology "Aquo-ware System", working towards realizing "a society where everyone can create and choose water = democratization of water". Featured in numerous media.
Joined Sanyo Electric (now Aqua) in 2006, engaged in development of cleaning/laundry equipment. Transferred to Sales Planning in 2013, handling new sales and marketing strategy. Co-founded OKULAB in 2016, launching "Baluko Laundry Place" and expanding to about 200 stores nationwide in 5 years. Founded CoL Inc. in 2022 aiming for new value creation in laundry industry. Featured in numerous media.
Launched open source hardware project "OpenPool" in 2012. Co-founded Elephantech Inc. (formerly AgIC), working on spreading decarbonized electronic circuit technology by inkjet printing. Completed Master's at University of Tokyo Graduate School of Science.
